Whiskers on kittens and crisp apple strudels…these are a few of my favourite things. Along with a good musical, of course. So, I grabbed the chance to pop along to the Arteria Coliseum Theatre on Gran Vía and see Sonrisas y lágrimas, the Spanish version of The Sound of Music.
The director, Jaime Azpilicueta, has managed to create an entirely new show, without all the dust that often covers up the beauty of yesteryear, but with the cinema version by Robert Wise and starring Julie Andrews always in mind. The best thing about it: the music by Richard Rodgers, which has never gone out of fashion. On that note, I’ll say goodbye with the classic song Do, re, mi.
