I went to the US for a few days to visit my son who’s studying and playing there at a High School. As my visit coincided with the NBA All Star game, I took the opportunity to see it live.
What a show! Specially all the things going on off-court: on-stage musical performances, Beyoncé sitting in the front row, photographers, agents, business and partying. The Americans can turn a simple game of basketball into a non-stop show which makes the crowd think anything can happen at any moment, particularly when Ricky Rubio gets the ball…
In our city, the show happens on court and is provided by the Real Madrid basketball team. I can think of no better way to spend a weekend afternoon than going to the Palacio de Deportes! From the word go, the ball flies around the court from one white shirt to another. I haven’t had so much fun watching basketball for a long time as I do now watching this team. The creative play of Sergio, the speed of Llul, the quality of Mirotić, our star player Rudy… But, above all, the team work. It’s a team which is always looking to win, whoever they are playing, under the expert coaching of my good friend Pablo Laso.
So I highly recommend that everyone inMadridwho can do so should go along and watch these boys play, it’s a must-see show. I’m already relishing the end-of-season play-offs.
